World Steel Association, often abbreviated as worldsteel, is the international trade body for the iron and steel industry. The association represents over 150 steel producers (including 9 of the world's 10 largest steel companies), national and regional steel industry associations and steel research institutes. World Steel Association members represent around 85% of world steel production. The purpose of the association is to promote steel and the steel industry to customers, the industry, media and the general public. World Steel Association is a non-profit organisation with its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium and in Beijing, China. ==Membership== Companies must produce at least 2 million tonnes of steel and operate as independent commercial enterprises in order to be eligible for regular membership.
